In this role, you will make an impact across the business while working with designers, business stakeholders, and other engineers to ensure we’re creating, developing and continuing to deliver a communication technology platform used and loved by our global client-base.

About the role

We have an incredible opportunity for a Senior PHP Developer to join our creative, tight-knit development team. You will have the opportunity to design, develop and maintain ipSCAPE’s customer experience technology solution. You will also be part of exciting developments, such as implementing new product features, fixing bugs and continually enhancing the product’s features and performance using an Agile (Scrum) development framework.

What will my responsibilities be?

As a Senior PHP Developer, you will be reporting to Head of Engineering, and your main duties will include:

  • Build efficient, testable, and reusable PHP modules
  • Solve complex performance problems and architectural challenges
  • Contribute in all phases of the development lifecycle
  • Follow industry best practices

What skills do I need to have?

  • Strong knowledge of PHP web frameworks
  • Proficient understanding of MVC design pattern
  • Knowledge of object-oriented PHP programming
  • Understanding accessibility and security compliance
  • Understanding fundamental design principles behind a scalable application
  • User authentication and authorization between multiple systems, servers, and environments
  • Creating database schemas that represent and support business processes
  • Proficient understanding of code versioning tools, such as Git
  • Intermediate understanding of front-end technologies, such as JavaScript, HTML5, and CSS3

Bonus points

In-depth knowledge in one or more of the following areas would be highly desirable:

  • DevOps processes and tools
  • Experience with the design and implementation of REST APIs
  • MySQL administration, optimisation and tuning
  • Software architecture, with skills in designing and implementing APIs for both internal and external use
